Individual psychotherapy
- With talk psychotherapy I use a variety of modalities to fit your needs. What to expect- My theoretical clinical orientation is a mix between allowing a safe space for you to vent and share, combined with using scientifically and empirically based interventions (worksheets, clinical exercises, etc). I use a variety of therapeutic interventions, including CBT, DBT, psycho-dynamic therapy, strength based intervention, narrative and other trauma based therapies, attachment based theory, esteem building, and acceptance therapy. I believe strongly in incorporating mindful based practices with all of these modalities, and will allow a space to do so if each of our sessions.
Hypnotherapy
- Clinical Hypnosis/hypnotherapy (not stage hypnosis, which we see on T.V!) is a technique used to get a participant to their most relaxed yet alert state of being. This is known as a trance state. In this state participants have the ability to explore the subconscious. In this state we walk through a variety of desired behavioral changes. For example, how would you like to see yourself or your life? This is done by the clinician using direct and indirect suggestive language, while in a state of aware subconsciousness. Hypnotherapy is recommended to address anxiety, stress, panic attacks, PTSD (and other trauma), compulsive behaviors, and other mood disorders (including depression and anxiety). The American Psychological Association and American Medical Association have recognized hypnotherapy as a valid practice since 1958, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has recommended it as a treatment for chronic pain since 1995.
EMDR
- EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapeutic technique used to help desensitize (lessen the negative response of a memory) and reprocess (filing the event as a long term memory). EMDR also helps you strengthen adaptive beliefs about yourself to help navigate your world. It is considered the gold standard for treating trauma, specifically PTSD. One EMDR is said to mimic the work of five traditional psychotherapy sessions. This method is best done in conjunction with psychotherapy and is typically 6-12 sessions long. Session length can vary from 55-90 minutes. I will always ensure we have time for “bringing back up” from exploring trauma and the end of our sessions including reintegration back into your present day. This can be done via in person or telehealth. For telehealth you must have access to a desk/laptop computer; cell phone video calls do not work. Earbuds are also strongly encouraged.
Coaching (Out-of-state option)
- Coaching is available for those seeking an alternative to traditional psychotherapy or those residing outside of Wisconsin (as counseling licenses are currently specific to each state). It is a collaborative process aimed at helping individuals achieve their goals and reach their full potential. Coaching is more hands-on and direct than traditional psychotherapy. For example, rather than solely discussing a goal, I will assist in outlining the steps to achieve it. We will work together comprehensively and collaboratively to address various objectives such as obtaining a new job, initiating new relationships, overcoming a life rut, resolving conflicts, and exploring spirituality.

Elderly services can also include helping individuals look for and hire/manage caregivers. Disability services include general planning for individuals with physical, mental, or cognitive disability. Services include helping develop an independence plan (brainstorming on how to allow your loved one to be as independent as possible) and community resourcing.
